Reader Comments (1)Page 1 of 1 pagesWhy are you starting at 2001. Hasn’t New Orleans been around before that? I think New Orleans has had over 200 years to take care of their levee problems. What about the Orleans Levee Board? Have you looked at the money they have wasted over the years? What about the State of Louisiana ... In 1998, Louisiana’s state government had a $2 billion construction budget, but less than one tenth of one percent of that—$1.98 million—was dedicated to levee improvements in the New Orleans area .. but they did manage to spend S22 million to renovate a new home for the Louisiana Supreme Court and $35 million for New Orleans convention center. Don’t forget ... New Orleans wasn’t started in 2001.
