The Boy Who Cried WMD

It’s time for George W. Bush to holster his guns and ride off into that Wild West sunset only he can see

By Sanhita SinhaRoy

There goes the Axis of Evil. On Dec. 3, news broke that 16 U.S. intelligence agencies had concluded that Iran had halted its nuclear arms efforts in 2003. You would think the report—known as the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE)—would give Bush pause in his push for another war. You’d be wrong. At a Dec. 4 White House press conference, Bush… return to article

    Dumb and Dumber!

Up front Sanhita Sinharoy tells us that NIE means National Intelligence Estimate. The key word is without doubt ESTIMATE.

Estimate, theory or best guess — to come down firmly on either side of this issue without verification is folly.

The two following statements are in the same class as this article:

    A. My good friend informed me he has been smoking cigarettes for over 62 years and doesn’t have lung cancer.  I quit twenty years ago, so I guess the joke is on me.

    B. We keep hearing global warming is a serious threat, but today we are in a serious ice storm in the midwest — obviously it is all baloney.

The Iraq invasion seems like the worst military judgement we’ve ever made. Let’s not try for a new record.

The artillery has a saying when targeting an objective…
One over, one under and one on.

Q: What are Sanhita Sinharoy’s credentials to speak with such single-mindedness on this important topic?

I guess no torturers see themselves as monsters.  Huh, wolf?

Anyway, there’s a very clear, very precise, and very legally binding line here that has been crossed.  Torture is a crime, punishable by 20 years incarceration, and the death penalty if the victim dies.  The 1996 war crimes act codifies this.  The 2000 torture act codifies this.  The Geneva Conventions codified this.  The US Constitution codified this more than 200 years ago!

    Amendment 8:
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

    News Flash to “wolf”

Torture is both cruel and unusual, you sick sadistic fuck.
