I too support income protection for workers and improved unemployment benefits. But I would feel better if there was also a discussion of the value of the American Dollars and almost the same thing, the value of the U.S. debts. Are these limiting factors or does stimulus create improved revenues that offset the problems with U.S debts?

I agree on Moberg's choice of issues, but the Democrats are gun shy after so many defeats. Clinton's victory in 1992 was undone two years later in the Newt Gingrich Congressional election of 94. Moreover the candidates who have gravitated towards progressive issues are dividing the vote. Obama and Edwards have shown the greatest sympathy for the progressive views, but the three way race means that a candidate wins with 35 to 45% of the vote. The connections between Chicago and Louisianna should be preserved. The Republican hegemony has awakened the citizens of rural America. While many are loyal conservatives, the progressives and class conscious rural folk have also been energized. Progressive should realize there is fertile soil waiting for seeds.
