Jesus would most certainly not be a liberal - he would never advocate stealing (via taxes) to redistribute money as he sees fit. He would try to persuade those who have into giving freely to those who have not. The soul is not redeemed through force, but through choice. And giving is not necessarily in the form of a non-stop handout - could in in training to help someone be permanently self-sufficient. Our system of government steals in order to supply the indolent. That is immoral. "Alleged" Al Quaeda terrorist...lol....does that mean "alleged" falling of the WTC?

Thanks, Kuya, you are correct. Whether or not one accepts the divinity of Jesus, there is much evidence that he was a real person. Thanks, Dave, for the defense. And as a conservative and Christian, I DO believe in charity - but freely given. Not swiped from my paycheck and spent who knows where. And also, it was the Christian churches who swarmed upon New Orleans in the last year to gut and rebuild, clean up and send money. They're still sending groups down there. It's the Christian churches who take up special collections for catastrophic events - both local and …

There will never be economic equality. If you could redistribute wealth so that every person in this entire country had the same net worth, in five years, you'd come back and see the same disparities. Until people change the BEHAVIORS that make and keep themselves poor, you will always have poor people.

"the ultimate goal of white capitalism appears not to be just profit but absolute power, not only control over raw materials but cultural and political domination as well. As such, whiteness is the most common trait of the clique in pursuit of absolute power under the guise of capitalism (or democracy in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan)." Actually the goal of capitalism - white or not - is the pursuit of self interest by providing something that someone else wants at a price they're willing to pay. Sounds like a good deal to me. And by the growth of minority-owned …

I, too, was going to be one of those parents who would never spank-- until my strong willed child was born. For acts of defiance and obstinance, he got a swat on the behind. Now that strong will is channeled into more creative outlets, instead of his energies being wasted on sassing his parents. I do think there is a real difference between swatting for defiance and the unjust and unfair beatings you may be speaking of. But much of that stems from mothers raising kids w/out fathers and also having kids when the mother is a kid herself . However, …

Epistrophy wrote: "Liberalism - A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans..." The idea that liberalism is a mental disorder is based on what Epistrophy wrote, that it's founded on the "natural goodness of humans." I so disagree! Some humans are monsters, predators, and must be kept away from society. Not all humans are inherently good, and in fact, most are not, as any parent can tell you. Young children are, by nature, egocentric and selfish, driven by their impulses. Barring mental illness of some sort, these tendencies are trained out of them by loving families and socialization. However …

Now back to the article... "In a time of greatest peril, when Africans in the United States were fighting for their freedom from the American forces of slavocracy, two uniquely American communities came to their aid: Native peoples and Mexicans." Why no mention of the white Christian abolitionists who led the cause and hid slaves at their own peril? Why no mention the thousands of white soldiers who fought on the side of the north, not just to preserve a union? Why no mention of fellow africans who sold out their brothers in the first place? Why no mention of slavery …

I object to the idea that there are "nations" in this country. People are too quick to group themselves and each other. I don't have a problem with immigrants per se, but rather with immigrants being a drain on our government. The government has no money of its own, so the drain is really on every tax-paying American. This is actually more of a policy issue in which some people feel their self-proclaimed rights should be financed by others. My problem -- and a lot of other people's problem -- is not that the majority of immigrants are brown-skinned, but that …

The fact is, that in the here and now we have laws in this country. I'm not so worried about nice, Mexican families coming here and picking tomatoes as I am about thousands of these families coming here, being "bought" by either the Dems or Repubs, and becoming fully americanized by whining for social services and other various government handouts. Furthermore, Americans can easily afford a 2% increase on their produce in order for an american to make a living as an agricultural worker (but that woudn't be glam enough for americans, now would it?). In addition, if it's easy for …

it's = it is its = possessive Right, and the usage of this survey, they should have used the possessive "its." "Do you think the benefits of nuclear energy can outweight it is risk" is how this survey reads, and it makes no sense. It's wrong, it's distracting. It is wrong, it is distracting.

WHAT? "our economic system, capitalism, is structured so that it only benefits a small percentage of very wealthy people." The standard of living in this capitalistic country is such that even the poorest households in this country have a television, phone, cell phones, food, healthcare. And don't tell me poor people don't have healthcare. My aunt is a county health worker and even goes to people's HOMES trying to get them to take advantage of all sorts of health care, and they don't even want to get up and come to the door for FREE care. The county advertises free checkups, …

Wolf is correct to say that "acting white" is a misnomer. I am white and come from an uneducated, poor background. Even had divorced parents and lived in a mobile home, such a cliche, but that was my life. I watched and listened to how my family behaved/talked and compared that to teachers and any educated person I met or saw on television. I learned from this, leaned to say "I saw" instead of "I seen," among other things. Whether any of us like it or not, you WILL be judged on how you act and speak. Even the poorest households …

After the abolition of slavery, American Blacks had to closely identify with and help each other because of racist attitudes and racist laws. This kinship was essential to their survival because no white face could be trusted completely. This close group identification continued into the 20th century, through the civil rights movement, and even hrough to today. However, each generation steps a bit further away from the past - whether black or white - and the old ways become diluted. If you look at young people today, there is less distance between the races - just look at interracial dating. What …
